100% New Mexico leaders in communities across the state

In 2020, surveys across New Mexico revealed a troubling reality: many families needed essential services but couldn't access them. Children and entire households struggled to find affordable housing, healthcare, healthy food, transportation, fully-resourced community schools, and other vital supports. This raised a critical question: whose job was it to ensure families could access these services?

That answer remains debated — but NMSU's 100% New Mexico initiative rose to the challenge. We empowered local teams to work through seven organizing steps to identify barriers, build partnerships, and improve access to vital services across their counties. This course translates that county-level work into ten modules so you can understand the full process and find your place within it.

This self-guided course is designed for 100% New Mexico initiative leaders, county champions, school partners, providers, and community organizers ready to move their communities from "you're on your own" to "everybody's in." Each module walks you through the 100% New Mexico framework, the seven organizing steps, and key leadership skills for ensuring every family can access ten vital services.

You'll have the opportunity to connect with Team 100% — the technical assistance staff at NMSU's Anna, Age Eight Institute — who support the local initiative work with an array of resources, including a Philanthropy Directory.

A structured, county-level process: survey residents, analyze data, meet providers, vet the directory, research solutions, secure buy-in from leaders, and evaluate progress every year.

This goal comes from a fundamental belief of the 100% New Mexico initiative: low-wage work often does not cover the real cost of essential services, and government can help close this gap as part of its social contract with residents.
